Meet the "chosen one" - a young shepherdess whom the Virgin Mary appeared to a total of eighteen times between February and July of 1858.
Bernadette was a fourteen-year-old, illiterate and humble shepherdess but with a solid faith – a faith that moved mountains.
The apparitions of the Blessed Virgin to Bernadette took place in a niche above a cave on the banks of the River Gave in the small town of Lourdes, at the foot of the Pyrenees in southwestern France.
Little could anyone have known what impact these apparitions would have on the small girl, her family, Lourdes and indeed the world.
Discover her spirit, admire her charm, adore her simplicity and ultimately, fall in love with one of the most beloved Saints of the Church.
